New work for "Dimbola Mikado", created using realtime manipulation of images and mixed media across inkjet photocopier, silhouettes, and Victorian optical games. "Dimbola Mikado" premieres at Dimbola Lodge, former home of Victorian photographic pioneer Julia Margaret Cameron, mid to late 2020. Full photograph and details of a piece began in 2018, during lectures on the Themersons  and their contribution to 20th avant-garde thought and practice, and completed only when the inevitable happened and the Boojum - constructed of fragments of Themersons' photograms - appeared in the image in the worrisome days of 2020 to begin the digestion of the universe.  Inkjet prints on paper, cardboard, and tracing paper, mounted onto wooden frame. Building top of the "computerless computer art" methods of the scanning-in-motion practices I've been experimenting with over the course of this productions' development, permit be to introduce you to a series of mainly 3D diorama mixing up this radical approach to image making with traditional collage, to create fragments and scenes of the story "Dimbola Mikado" will tell.
